Agents

Overview

An Agent is the BindPlane software that installs in your environment and captures logs. This software typically will be installed on the system where the log files exist. It can also be configured to receive logs from other systems through protocols like Syslog.

The agent is managed remotely by BindPlane, this allows for broad configuration changes to your log monitoring settings across many agents.

When the Agent installs it can take a BindPlane Template ID, this allows you to preset the configuration of an agent ahead of time. This is mostly used for transient environments like Kubernetes containers and any other autoscaling cluster.
